The cast and official guests

On 10 October, Fiji Day was celebrated in Levuka. Part of the day's many activities was the re-enactment of the signing of the Deed of Cession. This took place at Nasova on the exact spot where Fiji was originally ceded to Britain on 10 October 1874.
The official guest was the Minister for Education, accompanied by several other Government Ministers, the Tui Levuka and other chiefs from Ovalau. A large crowd of school children, members of the local community and a lot of tourists were treated to a moving performance by local residents and villagers.
It was a fitting end to a wonderful day of celebrations, a day where we remembered the past and were proud to be part of the present and future of this country.

A solemn moment
