GOODBYE, HENRY - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

It is with great sadness that we record the passing of one of Levuka's great characters, Henry Sahai. He went to God on February 9th, aged 85, after a short illness.
Henry has been an icon in Levuka. Born in 1919, he had many stories to tell about Levuka, past and present. He was affectionately known as "James Bond", because he knew everything that was happening around town.
Not only was he well-known locally, but also internationally. Many tourists came to Levuka just to do a Town Walking Tour with Henry. He had many interesting and funny tales to tell about life in Levuka over the years. His cheeky smile and knowledge of our small town will be missed by many people.

RADIO LEVUKA

We have been pleased to have as guests, Marcel Verreck and his lovely partner, Margo. They hail from Holland and are on a ten week holiday, starting in Thailand, then to Australia, New Zealand, a week in Levuka, Los Angeles and home.
Marcel is well known in Holland as a comedian, radio personality, newspaper columnist, author and singer/songwriter. During his trip, he has been doing live radio reports from the various places he has visited. These reports are a mixture of facts and comedy. His report from Levuka, even though it was in Dutch, was very funny, but at the same time let his listeners know what a wonderful place Levuka is. 40 YEARS ON!!

The first of May marked a very special occasion for Joy and Chris from Melbourne - they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary here in Levuka. It was a special day for two very special people. During their stay with us, they experienced the delights of Levuka and had a true Fiji experience. We are looking forward to seeing them again - maybe for your birthday in October, Joy???
